Hi Guys, jus bought a 1988 Bronco 2 4x4 with external HP fuel pump problems. Has anyone replaced the two pump system on the 1988 with a single HP in tank pump on the 1989 up bronco 2s. looks like the single system HP in tank pump would be less like to have the problems associated the the two system pump on the 1988. any input appreciated!:icon_idea:

If you get just the pump for an 89 it can be grafted onto the 88 sender, but you can't use the whole 89+ unit because the resistance ranges for the fuel level sender are different. Your fuel gauge would read wrong.

Personally, for as much fun as getting the tank in and out is on a BII I prefer the dual pump setup. The HP pump is more prone to failure, and is easier to access.

Given a choice, I would all ways favor a two pump system.

The single pump is system is simpler, but without the reservoir in-line is limited to a shorter time at crazy angles (or sideways motion) before there is no fuel to the engine...

Basically, for donuts the 2 pumps are better! :)
