New member here hailing from Vermont. I am the proud owner of a 05 FX/4 that I have owned since day one. This is my third Ranger I have owned since 1988. My first was a 88 4 banger standard that I drove for 165K until 1996. Second was a 97 Splash 4.0 Auto loaded that I drove for 188K until 05 when I purchased my current FX/4 which has 153K on the clock and is in excellent shape both cosmetically and mechanically. I just finished a Morimoto based HID retrofit from TRS. The retrofit went well with only a few rookie mistakes that were easily rectified. Recently I also did the OHC mod which is a fantastic mod that added a lot to my truck. At the same time I did the Third Brake Light Directional Mod which is really cool to have.

Good to be here and look forward to some posting. Cheers.

Welcome, from another forum newb.

I put HID's in my K3500, along with some fog lights and it's a world of difference. Don't know how I ever got by without them, or how the factory ever put such useless lighting in a vehicle to start with. My Exploder will likely get the same treatment in the intermediate future.

Welcome! That truck does look great. Can you share more info about the Morimoto based HID retrofit, and the OHC mod?

Well, I purchased all my components from TRS. I went with the Acme projectors, Mini Gatling Gun Shrouds and Morimoto XB-35 Ballasts and Morimoto 5500K bulbs.

Be aware, even the 2.5" mini projectors do not fit inside our housings. The back of the housing needs to be cut out somewhat to make everything work. That adds a lot of work to the project but necessary.

I have a sort of build thread on another forum but I am not sure I can post a link to it here. I say sort of because I do not own a cell phone or camera so I need to borrow wifey's when I can so pictures are far and few between. I am not much of a picture taker anyway.

However, with wifey's help, I do have a Youtube video on my OHC install.

I went with the black painted shrouds to get that black reflection on the bowl. Gives it an awesome black chrome look. I like it a lot. Looks awesome on the truck but not what you would want to do if you are looking for an OEM look.

LOL, I clicked on your video link expecting to see an Over Head Cam mod, and I see an Over Head Console mod instead.

Balloon deflated.

LMAO, sorry. Is there even performance cams for our 4.0 SOHC? What would it do if there was? I love my 210HP. :icon_rofl:

There are, but I wasn't sure what you meant. Maybe you had some secret voodoo solenoid or wire splice or Betelgeuse or something.

I'm currently rebuilding my 4.0 OHV hoping to get somewhere in the neighborhood of SOHC power numbers.

Thanks, and great work on that console! I like that a lot, I may add that to my wish list. :)

I looked at the headlight options, and didn't see anything for the Mazda B series. They have different shaped headlights, so best I can probably do is an LED bulb replacement. I've already put in new lenses, mine were yellowed from almost 2 decades of Texas sun.

It's a easy mod. The hard part is when you come to the point of cutting your perfectly good headliner with a razor knife. I took a deep breath and took the plunge. :icon_rofl: After that it was all gravy.
