1998 Ranger XLT - 2WD, US truck. 4.0L auto.

Purchased the truck for a song...no motor, but came with a 1999 motor in the box from another vehicle.

Installed went well, retained all sensors from original motor as there are differences with cam sensor etc.

Runs perfectly, no codes from ABS or engine control computer.

Heres the problem, when doing the key on bulb test the parking brake light does not come on during the bulb test. Applying the parking brake does light the bulb but with out the bulb check it fails the safety test.

Did all the obvious, jumpered the brake fluid sensor, checked all the Rabs associated components...code 16 from the module saying everything is fine. All bulbs/fuses check out...everything works on the truck...every light!

Seen some schematics that say there should be a vacuum switch that shorts the circuit to ground but don't see one anywhere on this truck, is there one? Where is it?

Pulling my hair on this one, pulled the dash again today to check the diodes on the back of the cluster as I am out of ideas.

Anyone seen this before?

How about a pinout for the GEMS/CTM module so I can run the harness, anyone have a schematic for a 98?

Never mind, we jumpered from the ABS light with a diode so it passed the safety, likely the GEMS/CTM module since there is no voltage coming through on the bulb test.

If this happens to someone else you can get a suitable diode from the back of another speedo cluster, you only need a single wire.
