Just out of curiosity, is there any possible way to remove an ignition lock cylinder from a 95 Sable WITHOUT having the keys in my possession? Besides breaking it, of course. We really don't want to have to spend $95 to have a locksmith come out and cut a new key, and we can't find the old keys anywhere!!! Thanks in advance.

You can drill it out, but that's not a pleasant task.

Just out of curiosity's sake, how would one go about drilling the lock out? Just take the drill straight up through the cylinder where the key would go, or elsewhere? And then once that's drilled, would I still have to push the pin in to get it out, or would it just slide on out? Thanks. At this point, the $95 really isn't an option.

If the door key is the same as the ignition key. Take out the passenger side lock and take it to a reputable locksmith. there is a number on the lock and he will be able to make you a key. We had to do the same thing a couple of weeks ago, took a few minutes and cost twenty bucks. That's canadian bucks so down there it will be about half that.

Unfortunately, the keys are not the same on this car. There is a separate key for the ignition and the door locks, due to the cylinders being changed a few years ago. Thanks anyway!

Alot of tow yards have a set of master keys. See if they can help you out. Thats what I did my Ranger I just got off a lien sale. They were able to get the ign unlocked & I replaced it easily.

When you say a "tow yard", do you mean a towing company or a salvage yard? The reason I ask is that my wife and I have a friend that owns a towing company. Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out.

That's really your only option. Drill carefully straight down the shaft of where the key rides, or find a locksmith. Once you pull it, you can get a new lock cylinder from an auto parts store for around $15.
