I don't have a diagram for your model year ('96), but whichever wire becomes live when you turn the parking lamps on should be fine to tap onto (I assume you have a voltmeter, right? Or at least a circuit tester of some sort). As I said in a previous post, it's not critical where you tap onto the park lamp circuit, all it has to do is operate the relay coil (about a 0.1 amp load).
My '94 diagrams show a "Brown" wire coming off the headlamp switch itself for power to the park lamps. If your '96 is the same (since you also mention a brown wire), then that should be fine to tap onto.
