Hey all,

When I got my Ranger, the seats were disgusting. Threw them away immediately. Temporarily I have some chevy seats sitting in place, and plan on getting some old escort or mustang buckets. However, I have no airbags now. Is there a resistor pack or some kind of hotwire job I can do to re-enable the steeringwheel and passenger dash air bags? I don't care if the light on the dash is on or not, I just kind of want the safety back.

Thanks!

Airbags do not make you safer. They are in fact more dangerous than not having air bags. Keep your seat belt on and you will be ok.

Your results may vary with opinions on them, I like idea of them but have no experience with using them.

Find the connector for the PS seat that you unplugged to put your GM seats in. Attack that, not sure if your year of truck has them but an EVTM for my truck explains what does what with different harness pretty well. Mine was like $15 on ebay... again your results may vary on that. No dealer works on a '85 anymore so they are all over the place, an '11 could be a different story.

If it is possible I would get the connector for the seat harness and use that to jump it around so if someone down the road wants to put it back right the harness isn't all hacked up and missing parts. Or disassemble the seat (if you still have them) and see if you could swap the pressure switch to your other seat. If you don't have being that new and a major safety thing they are probably still available.
