my 98 ranger 4x4 - 4.0 engine.
I had no power windows, no dome light and no 4x4.

I replaced the GEM Module with one from a 98 Explorer
everything works but - now my o/d light comes on , speedometer stays at 25mph no matter how fast im going and the idle is not as good.

The GEM had different numbers, the last 2 letters from the original are EE.
The one from the Explorer - F87B-14B205-CF
OK , can the one from the Explorer be reprogrammed to work correctly ??
If I find one with the exact numbers, will it plug n play without reprogramming ??

GEM replacement problematic

Experienced problem with intermittent dome light and 4x4 actuator functioning. Trouble shooting led me to GEM. Got used one on eBay, disconnected battery, installed. Problem seemingly resolved but, on test drive. When auto trans shifts to 2 new gear, stalls and speedo says I am going 70-100 mph? If I shift the selector to low (1) 2wd, sputters but does not stall when his 5 mph and shifts to second...idles for 15 min after install and then sputtered around neighborhood for 30 min as a post said it would re-set itself after a while...bad GEM?....suggestions?
