I would like to thank the response to my last question 7/5/16 but cannot find it. This 89 2.9 4x4 auto will turn over but will not start. It had always started and ran perfect. There is fuel in the tank. This truck started and after backing up instantly died. It cranks, has fuel pressure at relief valve and plugs smell of fuel though not wet. There isn't spark at plugs or power to coil. All relay switches click (haven't thoroughly checked each). Engine check light does not go on and tach just moves slightly when cranking. Radio, heater fan lights work. Really need some help, stumped! Thanks, Jackb

Have you changed the module on the distributor?

No power/12volts at the coil with key on, and no CEL with key on means the EEC fuse is probably blown or EEC relay is not working correctly.

Fuse is in the engine bay fuse box, 30amp, look at #8 but they do move them around.

I think in 1989 Ranger the EEC relay is under the fuse box, Picture here: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/fordguy4u/2010-04-22_140554_A1.jpg

EEC relay closes with key on, it sends power to the EEC(computer), the fuel injectors, the spark system, and powers the Fuel pump relay(not the pump itself).

With no CEL it means computer is not powering up, and with no power at the coil either then the EEC relay fuse and/or relay itself are suspect, also wiring from that relay out to the engine
