weird rattle at 2500 rpm

i have a 89 ranger 2.9 5 speed just put new dizzy in it . timed it and now at about 2500 rpm to me sounds like lifter rattle. unplug the pip and it goes away. i have timing set between 10 and 12 degrees. any ideas would be great

If you unplug the PIP wire the engine should stall, computer would shut off injectors with no timing pulse(the PIP) from the distributor/TFI module

If you mean SPOUT wire then engine would stay running but spark timing wouldn't be as advanced.
Could the rattle be engine "knock", pinging from pre-ignition?
That could be related to spark timing or lack of EGR flow

yeah its the spout. kinda weird just started doing it the other day dont do it till its warmed up. does it some times and time it wont. has me baffled. i retimed twice tryed 9 degrees all the way to around 13 same thing either way. so stuck it back to about 11 degrees. some swear by 12 deg somw say 10 so i split the diffrence
