My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
yeah....90's f150 v6 jellybean looking trucks...

the pertronix or davis unified ignition distributors work ok and simplify things.

the oem style duraspark is fine if you can find quality parts, not sure what your working with.

but fresh new carb and dizzy is money well spent....fresh 500 cfm street avenger and pertronix flamethrower should be very reliable and easy to get going.

Once I eliminated the ecoil my duraspark held up a lot better. It was only running a few months before I knocked it in the head to do a trans swap but there towards the end with the ecoil DS module life could be measured in hours. When I got all the extra computer crap off the tach signal it put a lot more load on the module until I put the right coil on it.

We have had several guys with points tractors "upgrade" to petronix only to "downgrade" back to points. When the petronix thing dies you are dead in the water until you get another one in the mail. Just about every parts store has a set of points though.
