Thought I would let you know about my Project.

I have done 5 first gen V8 build in the past.
And been away from the conversions for a while.

But have become interested again. Now that the IRS 4x4 is now a low cost option.

Been driving the 4.0 SOC stuff. But now have learned to hate the 3 cam chain deal.

SO I am back to the bullet proof push-rod 5.0 engine Mated to the tough cop car auto trans. That came in the last push-rod V8 Explorer !

Purchased a nice lower mile 2001 Expo. And like most started planing to swap everything over.
But before long, started thinking. I actually want a tough durable DD Flat bed work truck.
Why not just use the EXPO frame.

:icon_welder:

Today Made the rear cab mounts. Using the mounts I cut off a junk / bent Ranger frame.

I feel this plan is going to Work out !:icon_welder:

Been driving the cab and chassis around the neighborhood

Had the ECU recalibrated
To elinate things:
Like the EGR , Pats and rear o2 sensors.
And I was a bit surprised.
But the engine started fine.
With the ranger body loom connected to the Explorer V8 engine loom
With the wrong pats box and steering column and key!!!!

I feel this was my best option. As I did not care to use the Expo body loom
And it’s complicated HVAC system

Did have to make some custom connections for the tail lamps.
Used info on this fourm to make the Tacometer correction.
And still need to finish the wiring to operate the AC system .

But overall I am happy so far!!

As I am nearly finished with the project.
And excluding my labor. I now have a top shelf DD
That actually made me a few bucks. After selling the extra parts.
What could be better!!!

Thinking in time I would like to do a 2 speed T-case swap
But I am quite pleased so far !!

We need more than a cab mount picture of this beast.
