so crawled under the explorer today to get started tearing down the front end and noticed that my suspension consits only of a strut, a 2 1/4" swaybar and a bumb stop right above the lower control arm. 
It doesnt look like theres any room for a spring either, is this stock? I thought explorers had the same front end as rangers. I was going to modify the suspension anyway but I'm just wondering if ford made the poor design choice or if it was the guy I bought the truck from.
