Hey everyone
I have a 2005 FX4 with alittle over 188k on the odometer.
Well I have big plans for my truck and I was going to just trade it in and getting something with more aftermarket support but after some soul searching I just decided to build exactly what I want and if a upgrade isn't available I'll just have it made or make it myself.
I'm going to be doing this is stages and I'm giving my self a year to complete it by camping season next year.
Stage 1
I plan on replacing all upfront suspension components with MOOG, upper and lower control arms, and tie rod ends.
As far as brakes I'm replacing rotors and pads with a kit from powerstop and I also need new wheel bearings.
My shocks are circling the drain and I'm pretty sure they are still the original shocks from 2005 but more on that later.
I will also be changing all the fluids, and plugs and wires, I also have a problem with my truck not wanting to start when it's damp out so I think my coils are going bad as well.
Stage 2
Now things start to get interesting, I was going to crank the Tbars and just throw on bigger tires but then I got to thinking maybe I should do it right the first time.
So the plan is to do the coil over conversation and replace my shocks then and as far as springs I was thinking about getting 12 inch springs to bring the front end up since I'm going to be replacing the rear leafs with a new set for a Ford explorer Sport Trac to allow for 33 inch tires
As far as lighting I have no direction what way I'm going to go yet, I was thinking about doing a KC light bar up top since you are able to angle the pods, I'm also replacing all bulbs with led including the headlights.
As far as body armor I'm going to be getting a front bumper from Logan metals
And a rear number from a yet to be determined vendor, I do really want to do recessed led aux rear lighting
I also plan on removing the side steps and getting sliders in it's place.
So this is the plan and I'll post pics as I go and I'm open to any suggestions on things I should do differently or things I'm leaving out.
