This week has topped its greatness.

My dog was put down by the county today for escaping and killing a cat.

Rest In Peace my love.

I'm so sorry.... You were an amazing animal, I am glad to have gotten the chance to get to know you and love you. :bawling:

Damn! I love cats and would be kind of pissed if your dog killed mine but unless she was a repeat offender, I'd say the cat wasn't fast enough. Dogs are dogs and cats are cats. Dogs chase cats. It has always been so. The death penalty for a first offense is kind of harsh! Sorry.

just a ? but where was the cat?

It was outside somewhere, I was not home at the time.

I have no idea why she killed it... we live with a cat. I guess it was just my shitty luck that this would happen.

WTF?! Let a G.D. cat run around killin' she-it, and nobody says boo. But when it's a "vicious" pit bull, Oh My Gawd! Get a gun, get scared! Effin' people, and so what do they do? turn around and kill the dog, who's next...

My cousins minpin took down a few cats in his neighborhood and got put to sleep. It's not just because she was a bull, but it may have played a large roll in it. They get a bad rep, but they're really sweet dogs. Its not the breed.. its how they're raised that determines how they react.

I'm sorry for your loss... You've defentally had some bad luck lately..

I agree with the fact that people give pits a bad name... I have only actually seen a few mean pitbulls, all the others have been really nice dogs. The ones that were mean, you could tell that the owner was the reason they were mean.

I wonder why they put down cats for killing mice?? Same concept, right?

Sorry your dog had to be put down but the owner is ultimately responsible when a dog is allowed to roam. That said the cat must have died a horrific death. The dog had displayed very aggressive behavior by killing the cat so should have been put down for public safety.

Euthanasia for a first offense? Gimme a break, animals chase eachother and go at eachother, especially cats and dogs. Who knows the full story anyway, maybe the cat was tormenting the dog somehow.

Cats are more agile creatures than dogs, and it should have been able to escape no problem.

I think that's horrible that her dog got put down for that. A second or third offense I can see, but a first offense is ridiculous.

My credo
Your character is demonstrated by your actions if you knew no one would ever discover them.
sorrow

TGD, my condolences. Was she a Staffordshire Terrier? What was her name? Judging by her ribbons, she was AKC/pure bred? She was beautiful! We have an American Staffordshire Terrier, and he weighs 91 pounds--a huge Pit! The only way anyone would die at the paws of my Atticus is by being licked to death  I do not understand how the County justifies euthanizing an AKC Staffie due to hunting, catching, and killing one cat. If your girl had bitten a human that would be something altogether different. Again, I feel sorrow for your loss. a_r
