i'd do it on the inside of the bed on driver side. like the chevy's 2meter antenna. i could get a pic tomorrow. what length firestik is it?

edit found some pics online:

now mine is on a temp mount on my rear bumper and it recieves pretty good.. but its just for a trail cb so its not for distance, i have a 2meter ham radio for that.

you could make a braket that mounts to the back of the cab with some screws or rivets and then mount your antenna to it, that way you dont have to drill a hole in the roof, unless you were thinking about using a magnet mount? mines mounted to the tire swing on my back bumper:

my 4' firestick, mounted to the side of the box, i would recommend putting it on the side of the box, rather than the front, so if it bounces around at all, it doesn't hit your cab...

they aren't ideal, however nowhere on a truck IS ideal (other than the middle of the roof) i honestly think they are fine...

still not idea, signal reflects off of sheet metal, so you want it dead center in the roof, and it will radiate it outwards as best as possible... headache racks aren't a bad idea, but it's not ideal though...

the biggest thing for me, location wise, is if it's going to get ripped off... which is why i mounted it IN the bed

i like the long whips like this.

I have the hardest time finding bed rail covers ike one in this photo. all i can find are the generic cover ones. i like the style of these cause they are higher up.
