Thats right a v8 mower. I was looking on the web the other day at v8 mowers. And it hit me like a ton of bricks, a right angle gear box. I know you are probably think, a right angle gear box, hiws that gonna help. Well heres what ive came up with, use the pullies on the front of the motor to turn an alternator i will probably use an electric water pump. I can mess around with the pulley sizies to get the max speed and stuff like that. Some questions i have are, What is the max RPMs can riding mower blades handle without becoming shrapnel. Will the stock rear end hold up to the power of the v8? I know it wont if i dump it to it all at once but maybe a little a time. And what is the smallest radiator i can use to keep a v8 cool?

i think he is talking like a vacuum cleaner has, the two pulleys are at 90-degree angles to each other, but the belt twists to accommodate this

Tractors with bellymowers use something similar to get power from a horizontal PTO shaft to the vertical blade spindles well in front of the PTO shaft.

Because working on your lawn mower every time you want to use it is so rewarding. :stirthepot:
Once it is up to par, it would be more efficient and space saving versus a V8. Put a 20B, 3 rotor, TT on it and holy shyt. You will need a wheelie bar.

And you want to drive my 8. :icon_confused::idiot::nono::no2::taunt::flipoff:

I have enough fun trying to keep the 30yo Kawi running in my mower. :icon_twisted:

Rebuilt the steering last year, needs the carb gone through before this year. The stupid EPA fuel shutoff needle doesn't work so it floods the engine and fills the crankcase with gas. :temper:

i fix mowers for a living, i can screw up a transmission with just a single cylinder.. if you ever looked inside one, you'll understand, powder metal gears dont hold up well to aboose... most people who race them go with solid live axels and a chain setup..

I used to run push mower engines on diesel. Had to warm them up for about two minutes on gas first, though.
