Thanks for your help.....

Which year (rear) drive shafts are "one for one" swaps with my 1997 4wd XLT Ranger 4.0? EDIT: 6' bed, 5 speed manual.
The driveshaft has become so corroded from salt that it has become unbalanced and is causing vibrations and a low frequency hum at speeds above 40mph.

Thank you, Carl

I would get a one piece from a 1998+

You would need one from a 4x4 and also match the cab and transmission.
If you have ext cab get one from and ext cab... if you have an auto transmission, get one from an auto transmission.

Much better than having the carrier bearing two piece, made my truck much smoother.

1998, 1999 and approx. the first 1/2 of 2000 production...

Around that date ford switched to a larger output shaft flange on the T-case which is the same diameter as the diff flange...

and sometime around then they started retrofitting aluminum drive-shafts to cure the
Noise, vibration and harshness issues caused by the steel driveshaft.

I personally refer to this as "the church bell clang"
