Anyone know what differences there are between an 8.8 from and explorer and an 8.8 from a full size bronco? Besides the width...

All explorer axles are 31 spline, and they have the spring perches on the bottom side.
95+ have disk brakes.

Depends on what year it came out of 78-79 are full size. Early broncos are about the same as a B2.

This is the route I was going to go at first but found a sweet deal on a HP44 from a 79Bronco.

See I don't want to do an sas, I want to stick with the ttb and make it a long travel suspension system.

That would be an easy swap but you will need some fiberglass fenders.

The wider axle will necessitate really cutting the fender to clear upward suspension travel and turns while the tire is stuffed into the well. A buddy of mine just put a D44 into his 90 and went with a 3" body lift and 6 or 8 inch lift kit and it still looks like he'll have to trim the fenders. Fiberglass ones are the only way to keep a full fender after going wider, they are flared out a bit to clear bigger tires/suspensions.
