My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
save for shitcanning the pats and rear o2 sensors i would think that it would run well enough to get to a dyno.

with the described prep work and exaust mods though, a thorough tune would make it one hell of a runner for a 5.0. i bet it sounds awesome.

You can never have too many modifications.
I just fired my engine and drove it for the first time. Stock Explorer bottom end, 19 lb injectors, heads and intake ported similar to yours and the same comp cam you have. I am running the EQE3 and all I did was turn off PATS and the rear O2s. Seems to run and start fine other than occational stall when putting into gear. Yours should run fine.

Yes, they sound very similar. I am now running the EQE3 ECM as well. The truck runs good but it still has not been brought up to temp and entered the closed loop cycle. I should be able to run it around the block in a week or two and I will know more then. But it does seem to idle very well and the throttle response is very good. I did have a custom tune done but I am not sure what all was changed other than the PATS disabled, the rear O2's turned off, and the auto trans functions disabled.
