one is from a 2000 SOHC 2wd, the other is a 99 OHV 4wd - is it a matter of swapping tail shafts, T/C, and fluid pans or is there more to it?

Im not shure what year ford put speed sensors on the main body of the trans, but as for internals they can be swaped.

If your going to 2wheel, keep the 4wheel pan and filter.

All 4.0 TC's are the same stall speed, and spline.

So you know when swaping tail shaft and housing, the trans will need to be compleately disassembeled, then you might want to freshen up the bands, clutches, steels wile your there.
