Im building a boosted 4.0 ohv head studs holset turbo intercooled all that good stuff.

My problem is how to tune it. I have a friend who is good with mega squirt amd are pushing me to do that and I know its a good option just want to know what you guys think if its easy to install/tune all that stuff input would be great!

I've never used Megasquirt, but I've been tempted to try it a time or two. Everything I know about it come from what I've read.

For what you are building you are definitely going to need tuning. From what I understand a stock ECM can be tuned to handle the needs of your build, but a properly set-up Megasquirt can probably do it better.

If you are going to have a shop tune it, ask them which they would prefer to work with. If they want to work with the stock ECM you will probably still be buying a $300+ tuner for them to adjust it. So you are probably looking at the same money either way once you include the actual tuning.

If you want to try to tune it yourself, Megasquirt all the way. Even better that you have someone there that can help you learn the system.

Go with the mega squirt, all fuel injection units use gm connectors to wire components, the hard part on a ford is the terminals and connectors. You will need a stock harness to start with, would recommend finding the terminals new is possible and hope you connectors aren't to brittle. Mega squirt is a learning system, get it started follow the directions and it will turn its self mostly. You can get a unterminated harness and wire it yourself if you want. With a turbo you definitely don't want it to go lean, so make sure you have the fuel curve fat just in case.
