1984 2.3 ranger engine problems

I have a 1984 ranger 2.3 I am burning or loosing up to 4 quarts of oil about every three weeks, the spark plugs have oil on them and there isn't a lot of oil leaking anywhere and doesn't leave a puddle when parked , where is the oil going what should I replace ?

Piston and rings, and valve seals. Burning that much, its gotta be worn out rings.

yea, fouled plugs and no puddles means your rings/valve seals are shot like mike said.. your gona need an overhaul, with probly .030 pistons and bored out cylinders... good news is that is a very common motor so a previously enjoyed unit can be readly found.. any 2.3 block with a distributor hole in the side will work (1974-early 90's).. although it may not have a fuel pump hole on the block.. the key is a cylinder head with the matching ports... probably just reuse your old head after freshing it up...
