Does anyone know if the upper portion of the lever comes off so i can remove the cam ring to be able to clean up and paint? Does it thread off or is it pressed on? I dont want to mess it up by seperating it.
Thanks
Dan

Dan, these are pictures of my BW1354M shifter. Which connection are you talking about?

Are you talking about the shift knob?

If that is what you're taking about, it is pressed on. The plastic knob is pressed on a rubber sleeve. It might even have a spot of glue.

For removal, twist, jiggle, and pull upwards. Just be persistent.

No, i am taking about the shaft portion that the platic knob connects to. It is flared and won't let the shift location or indexing ring come up off of it. I just ended up working around it and painting in different positions. Was just a pain doing it that way. Thanks though.
