i recently bought a 2002 ford ranger 5 spd manual with the manual transfer case. (i dont know if thats rare or not) . I ended up having to replace the passenger side front hub assembly and the half shaft. The problem arose when i went to take the half shaft out. I got the end out of the spindle but i couldn't quite get it out of the other side, where it connect to the other half. I couldn't get them to separate. after some videos and reading, i took two bars and tried to wiggle the shaft loose. instead of separating at the point where the two shafts meet, i seem to have pulled the other half loose from the differential as well. Did i screw myself now or what ?

Not much help with the axle, but what you have is an FX4. I don't think Ford put the manual transmission with the manual transfer case in any 02 Ranger other than the FX4. I would not call it rare but, it is not very common either. Other than some earlier 4WD Rangers, this combination was only available in the 02 and 03 model years.
Of course, it could be a conversion by a previous owner too.
