Picked up the axle, needs some work but the gears and locker look great. Ordered a new diff cover as this one was the ugliest self made one ever.

Swapped the carrier bearings today and cleaned and painted the axle.

But found an issue install the diff cover, one of the bolt holes is stripped...so I need to install a helicoil or get it fixed somehow.

Ok so I have the front planned out as far as lift goes. Running 5.5" rubicon express Cherokee coils.

But I still am undecided on the rear. If I use shackles and exploer or Chevy leafs I'll still need to run the factory block to get the height I want... I really don't want to run a block.

That leaves me with what? Lift springs? If so what are some good ones?

You can get a "add a leaf" I used a 2" lift aal under my truck for several years. They were like 200 I think brand new.

Could also lower your mounting points on the frame, as in drop your shackle hanger so the top two holes on the hanger use the bottom two holes on the frame, and take some angle and bolt it to the frame and drill holes for the bottom two, should net you a couple inches of lift. Or if you want to get real crazy, inboard your leaves, as in mount them under the frame. Gives you lift, and more flex because the tires have more leverage.

I like the idea of moving them inboard. That would net you several inches more but it would increase body roll. Also it would be a good idea to box the frame at each hanger.

Moving the springs inboard is not a bad idea, but how much would it effect the daily drivability as well as towing with the truck?
