Default Planning my Dream Ranger input from 3rd gen owners wanted

ok guys the plan for me is to rock the colt and possibly the chebbie if i get it until the Ranger falls into play.

so far what i have figured out is this:
Auto Tranny
4X4
Ex cab

figureing on a 95 and up as that has the better tranny vs teh A4LD

being auto and 4x4 means it would have the 3.0 or the 4.0 and both are overall good engines

id like a manual T case but id take a auto.

thoughts????

i don't see a manual transfer case with an automatic in a newer vehicle happening unless you do it yourself.

i heard the 4.0SOHCs had issues with timing chains but never saw how common an occurrence that was.

i have a budget currently of about 1,800 so that limits me to privet sellers.

the local dealer has this:
http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dea...ownedImg=false

its currently at 5.5 K

the only issue is i have bad credit and while i could try to put 1,800 down and finance the rest i still have 800 left on my current loan that id need to pay off as i caint float two loans at the same time and id assume the rates an payments on the truck would be higher due to my credit.

Why are you worried about an sohc 4.0? The years you're looking at aren't sohc. The years/price range is ohv.

But definitely get a 4.0, I can't imagine how much suck the 3.0 would bring backed by an auto.
