What an amzaing difference it made. My truck hauls some serious ass now. :yahoo: Cam specs are just a tad bit different over stock, but it made the 2.9 great in my eyes. heheh. Purchased it from ColtCams based in Canada for about $180. Well worth it though. Love my truck even more.:icon_cheers:

how does it effect you mpg?? for the good? bad?

Gas mileage wasnt affected much at all. The first week it was installed, I hot rodded the hell out of it. 17mpg then. Filled up and drove semi-nice, got 19mpg. When I fill up at the end of the week ill post up. Had a throttle body spacer made at a CNC shop for it. Nothing real fancy besides that. Timeing is at 10*. Great though. Great investment in my opinion.

Was actually quite easy. Had water in the oil so I decided to replace the heads and put the cam in. The only thing that gave me a hard time were the camshaft thrust plate bolts. There the torx head and I stripped the hell out of them. Used a pair of vise grips to get them out. After that was really simple getting the old one out and the new one in. Went back together in a breeze. ColtCams.com has the cam for the 2.8 and 2.9

i was wondering what differences u felt from the cam swap

i hear nothing but good things about colt cams. the ford probe guys have been using them for a while, did they have anything for the 4.0

There is a very nice difference in power all throughout the rpm range. Liek I said before, it hauls ass. The cam is a great piece. I wouldnt put Colt Cams down in any way. The owner who I spoke to was very knowledgable and helpful. Im very impressed in how it changed the performance of the 2.9l in my BII.

Just filled up the tank today. 21mpg. Still great in my mind. I hot rodded it plenty this week as well.

I have been looking at a BII and the dude put new heads and a new cam in it and he told me he got 21MPG also and I didnt beleave him. He said its amazing how much better it is. Its a stick also.

Cam made it great. If I can just keep my foot out of it, im sure itll get better mpg's. Not much though.

did you call them and talk to them or what? because there web site doesnt say anything for the RBV

You do have to call to order the part. There is a section on the sight where you can look at various camshaft profiles. The cam was $112 plus $60 as the core charge. I didnt have time to pull the old cam and ship, so I just accepted the $60 charge.

Normally they will give you the money back once you send the old cam, don't think it matters when you do.

Either way, thanks for posting, man. I might do the same with mine whenever I decide to rebuild it.
