Why do you exclude the 2001 Ranger on your website? Any specific reason?

How much boost can the stock pistons / bottom end handle? At what point do you need to go forged?

We exclude it only because we do not have the SOHC in the 2001 model in Canada. It is 100% compatible.

Hey Beau! Since the stock pistons have a CR of around 9.7:1, it is somewhat limiting. We have successfully tested the engine to above 10psi without any problems. Furthermore, other kits on the market sell their products with >8psi boost without intercooler, water/meth etc. To be honest, we err on the safe side.

In my humble opinion, I wouldn't bother changing anything until >10psi. At that point, I would go forged with a lower CR. I would also stiffen the valve springs for higher rpm & barrier to valve lift.

(ps. You won't get over 10psi boost unless you do an engine pulley swap with the M90 anyways. Our new pulley tops out at around 10psi with a ported M90 so these changes are only for those who want to go the distance)

Just posted a universal tuning blog. This is applicable for all custom supercharger/turbo installs and even naturally aspirated.
Check it out here: Moddbox Tuning Blog

Have you guys considered a kit for the 5.0 Explorer setup? Lots of people installing those in the '98+ Rangers and I think you'd be able to sell a few.
