I went to go and buy two u-joints for my 95 ranger( front axel) and I was told that there are two different sizes, and know way of telling wich ones I have untill they are out of the truck. A little inconvenient. Is there no other way of telling or do I have to try and get a tape measure in there to see if I can measure it up.:dunno:

buy both sizes and return what doesnt fit? other wise you will have to meassure them, and if you arent sure if you can do that then maybe take it to a shop?

This is an ongoing issue with parts store countermen that are slaves to the stupid mal-programmed computers that are chock full of errors.

There is only one size u-joint that was ever used on the front axleshaft of any '91-'97 Ranger:

Spicer 5-297X (replaceable with 5-760X)
It has 1.188" bearing caps.

U-Joints are no poblem to change. I've done my share. I've never taken apart a front end on a ranger, only full size. Is there any special tool that I will need to get down to the axel.

if you have manual hubs a hub nut socket is AWESOME.. other than that nothing much .
