Hey yall, i have a 2000 ford ranger, i have a parasitic draw problem. I ran the test and im pulling a 1/4 amp after they key is off and out of the ignition there is no lights on and i checked for voltage at each fuse and narrowed it down to the right one. When i pull out fuse 26 the draw dies out. In that circuit i have the GEM module, the trans shift module and a few others i cant remember without all data in front of me. I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem and if they found an easy fix, maybe a stuck relay of something? If you got any ideas or if youve had this problem hit me up idk if ya txt me or email what ever works but i wanna get this fixed so i can get the new battery too the battery has been recharged and drained so many times because of this problem that it is now trash and i do not wanna let it go too long then ill burn up my alternator. Hit me up.

Andrew.

How long are you letting the vehicle sit after setting up for the draw test? You need to leave it so all modules power down before testing. This can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes.

My credo
to prevent Found On the Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily
The radio in the Rat will draw down the battery in short order. I am considering a solar powered battery minder, or a switched battery terminal.

GENERIC ADVICE: OK, so you have the problem narrowed down to a single circuit. Next you have to divide the circuit and test each half. One part will still have the draw, one won't. Keep reducing the bad part , until it you have it nailed. It is long and tedious , if you dont get lucky. Good luck.

Read this:
http://flashoffroad.com/electrical/Batteries/BatteryDrain.html

and do you have PDL, PW, and remote entry (key fobs to lock/unlock)?

You'll need to latch the door latch with the door open (dome light goes off, door ajar light goes out) in order to do the testing.

You'll find that "relay box" by laying on the DS floor, looking up into the dash, center. It is about 6" wide, black plastic with tape around it. Look for these color wires going to it:
TN/YE (tan with yellow stripe)
VT/OG
LG/OG
WH/BK

On my 01 Mustang if I leave the ventilation in anything but off it will drain the battery in about a month.

I figured it out! My battery was just junk which I knew but the GEM mod on fuse 26 takes anywhere from 45min too an hour n a half to go to sleep. This whole time it draws between. .50 amps to. .261 amps mine took 1.5 hours to go to sleep this draw for that amount of time killed my battery. After the 1.5 hours it went to spec. .05 amps of parasitic draw. Thanks for the help tho!
