So I scored a rusty old B2
it still has a good motor, 5 speed trans. and the 4x4 works
Total price $350.00

I'm doing a lot of reading esp about the upgrades/mods

My first mod will be to spray the underside with black rustoleum
spray paint to prevent further rusting.

I don't know how much more money I want to sink into
my rust bucket but if it proves a faithful lil beast on the road and
trails I'd like to do some upgrades.

Anyway I just wanted to say Hello!
:headbang:

Do it right the first time !!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to TRS. If you don't remove all frame rust it will just rust under the Rust-Oleum paint , if funds are tight you'd be farther ahead to spray non detergent motor oil on it. Buy the cheap stuff at a farm store.

Never thought of that, thanks for the tip.
Did a quick google search wally world sells a Supertech 30W for $2.44 a quart.
Wonder how often I'd have to add a quart to the underside for continued rust prevention?

Buy a gallon and do it before winter and in the spring , soak it good especially between the gas tank and frame and also the front and rear shackles. Keep it away from the muffler and cats. Everyone sprays it on with a siphon feed nozzle to get it where it does the most good. I would put down a tarp to keep it off the ground or the tree huggers will bitch. Boy I'm going to put my flame suit on now cause I'm sure I'll catch Hell for this !!!!
