I don't have one in my current truck but I usually prefer to replace the ashtray with it or get an overhead console and install there.

mine is now under the driver seat.. since its a trail unit only. made a small slice in the carpet and ran the coax and power wires thru the carpet. gonna make a small mount for it so it don't slide.. works out great. its hide.. i had 2 units hanging on my dash so this way only my 2 meter ham is hanging there, its a cleaner look.. and i use the 2 meter a lot more.

Thats a good idea. Mine has just been in top of the dash for a few weeks and I was planing on putting it in the ashtray slot very soon. I have not used it except for on the trail since I have had it in there. I may just move it under the seat to get it out of the way.

i LOVE mine down there and out of the way. don't even have to look at it!
under the dash wouldn't have bothered me if i didn't already have a 2 meter ham radio hanging there.. and the FREE cb i was gave won't fit in the ash tray spot, and if i was to do that... i'd have to make it look clean and trim it out somehow. i hate the ones shown that don't look trimmed out right. if it works for them; good.. but it wouldn't work for me. it'd bug me unless it looked like it was meant to be there, not like it was missing something.

Thats why mine has just been taped to the top of the dash. I haven't been able to build up the courage to cut the dash knowing it will never be the same again.
