Who has done an upgraded hydraulic throw out bearing in a M5ODR2? I'm not a fan of Thor stock setup I've had brand new ones fail me. Haven't teied this yet but it would be worth if if they last. Good thing is it's rebuildable too.

Go back and read your original post very carefully. It reads like it went through the spin cycle with a whole bottle of auto-correct.

so you're saying Thor never made a stock throwout bearing???
I could have swore there was a Hammer trademark on my throwout bearing.:icon_confused:

BTW a LUK throwout bearing/slave assembly is literally 1/10 the cost of that McLeod.

Ok here goes has anyone found a upgraded hydraulic throw out bearing for the m5odr2? I'm not a fan of the stock setup. I've had brand new ones fail me even if I replaced the master and hose togeather.
I found a aftermarket company that makes an aluminum bodied one it would be worth it if they lasted. Not a fan of pulling a transmission because of it needing a new slave cylinder.

I'm aware of that. I would rather install one slave cylinder for the life of the clutch not 2 or more. A fun time to me isn't replacing a part that was designed poorly in the first place.

If you can get 100k+ out of a stock or LUK throwout bearing/slave cylinder (which is pretty likely) then why would a company build an alternative?

Nobody would buy it. I sure as hell wouldn't and I have two trucks with M5ODs! LUK parts last a long, long time. They fail just as often as other "good" parts do. Everything fails. I had a brand new $800 iPhone dead right out of the box at work, does that make iPhones pieces of shit too?

I'm sorry you had a parts failure. It happens. I have replaced a ton of M5OD slave cylinders and can tell you that they do not fail more often parts made back in the good old days or whatever. They are also SIGNIFICANTLY easier to replace than similar parts on other vehicles... Rangers, Explorers, B2's are just really easy to work on, I can do a clutch job in a night after work.

In summary: there are no upgraded parts and the factory style ones are just fine regardless of how many people complain about them. You are just not hearing the 98% of us who have no issues.
