1st Off Road trip (2011 Jeep Jam at SMORR)

I finally accumulated most of the photos from this weekend into one spot. I must say, SMORR is by far the nicest private off road park that I’ve ever been too. I really wish it wasn’t 4 hours away, but I will be making another trip down there in the future.

All and all, we covered about 20 miles of trails while we were down there:

Link to the photo bucket album

Loaded up and headed out Friday afternoon:

Setup camp in the shade:

And went for a quick cruse around the park, stopping to play on double whammy a bit (didn’t have the tires aired down enough, so it was a no go this time):

Then I followed this guy up Rocky Road:

With this guy tagging along:

Rocky Road:

Somewhere along Rocky Road, I got my first body damage, I’m still not sure what rock got me, but it tagged the door/cab and pushed the corner of the bed back some:

Hammer fix to get it to stop rubbing:

The next day we wandered all over the park:

Youtube of a hill climb and coming down a waterfall (The Ranger shows up at the end of both obstacles).

Youtube

Somewhere during the day, the rear tires really started munching on my bed, and the drivers side now had some damage as well:

So that’ll need to be taken care of sometime soon.

All and all, I’m pretty dang happy with how well it worked out. I’ve got some things to fix, but they’re fairly minor (Rear LSD Blows, Rear is too soft, got a squeaky u joint, to name a few). I can’t describe how nice it was to cruise down there, wheel the poo out of it, then cruise back without worry (all with the A/C and radio blasting).

Needless to say, I'm encourage about the wheeling future of this truck, and its future trip to MT this year :icon_bounceblue:

what are flares?

:thefinger: looks good,oh and......

cut that shit!
I'm trying not to look like just another hacked up ranger :thefinger:

gotta agree with slo vo here... cut!!! then maybe take then stock flare cut it to match and a heat gun and bend a new 90 degree lip into it.. that way it'd look like a regular flare but skinnier (tall wise not width)
That's not a bad idea. I'm not afraid to cut (if my last XJ is any indicator). But I'm trying not to cut too much (if that makes any sense).

Right now, my focus is getting the cage on it, I'll worry about trimming later :D

I just spent a good chunk of my evening and morning reading from 1 to 28. The way each part was documented both in text and photo, and sorted easily made this thread a supremely enjoyable thread. +1 Kage!

While that's the most well known play spot (several youtubes on it) there are quite a few other fun spots in the park. I know its a bit of a trip for you, but its worth it to make it down there.

SMORR is awesome...
I got use to hearing this from more than one person and thought "whatever, its just another park". Boy was I wrong, it way nicer than the other parks that I've been too!

Thanks! I'll keep it up as I move forward :icon_thumby:

Not much else to update at this point, I took a few days off to get some thing done around the house that I've been ignoring for the past 4 months or so :icon_rofl: I have started bending tube though, so the cage should get done in the next week or two depending on what the weather does for me (I've got to do my bending outside, so it needs to be dry, and preferably not 98°F).

Thanks for the comments guys!

Thanks guys!

I'm still plugging away at it right now. Currently, I'm in the process of sticking an ugly exo cage on it. I hope to have that mostly wrapped up by the end of this weekend (If I have enough tube).

Nice pics, bud! That looks like a rad park.

I say body damage is all good, so long as everything still drives well enough to get me home, it's a success! Can't wait to see the exo, and a flop pic! :headbang:
