My stock '86 brake booster has started leaking. Is there an upgraded booster I can install? I noticed that '86 was the last year of this booster then it's a different part number according to Rockauto. Not sure if the newer ~97 boosters are better and bolt on? Brakes felt fine before but now I'm on 37's and figured if I can upgrade while it's broken.

Thanks!

Just doing some more rock auto research and it shows a 1990 BII booster is the same as my 1989 F350. I have a spare 1989 full size Bronco booster and master I think I'm going to try and swap on and see what happens.

I know that the ones from a 1st gen won't fit on a later truck (I tried with something like a 2002) because the spacing for the bolts on the firewall is wrong.

I'll find out today if the Bronco one fits.

Booster doesn't fit. It's too close to the steering shaft. Looks like I'll just order a Ranger one.

Doing further research it looks like the full size Bronco booster is 11.5" wide and the F350 booster is 8.75" wide. It is 2.75" less in diameter so it "Should" be a bolt in upgrade and should clear the steering shaft. I will pick one up tomorrow.

Booster and Master fit perfectly fine.

All parts were ordered for a 89 F350 with 460. Brake lines had to be rebent and the front brake line goes to the front on the master (towards front of truck)and rear brake line goes on the rear of the master (firewall side)

hopefully you used a ranger master cylinder when you changed the booster, master cylinders are most likely different diameters, the f350 being larger bore, meaning its gonna increase your pedal effort quite a bit. Up to 86ish, rangers used a single diaphragm booster, after that they went to a dual diaphragm, which is identical to what you have there, just an fyi.
