-Has anyone tried or done a swap to the '95- up Explorer booster/master cyl.
on a Ranger? Ive got to replace both on my '89 Supercab 2.9. master cylinder leaked into the booster and messed up the booster. Was thinking of doing the disc upgrade on the rear soon and wondered if anyone has changed theirs to the Explorer and the pros/cons of it. Direct replacement or ??? Worth it??
Any help appreciated.....Thanks

I did the Explorer master, my booster was fine. It was 99% bolt in. It mates to the Ranger booster just fine, the only issue is that my 87 was all double flared, while the 95 Explorer used bubble flares on the master cylinder, so I had to find some adapters.

Brake line adapters and fittings are an area of information few of us know anything about, I ventured into it recently when bypassing the rabs valve on my truck.

Parts store. They should have them in with the rest of the line fittings and nuts.

I did pretty well at Advance Auto on this stuff once I knew what I was looking for, the counter people had no idea, the manager did try, he pulled out another master cylinder and we tried to match things up, but it still took me 2 more trips back and forth.

My brakes are amazing now they're even better on this truck and they were on the long bed, although the brake booster groans whenever a foot is on the pedal.

I worked on my rear axle swap for a month. I had the axle itself in in about 3 hours.

Every night, for a month, I had what I called the "6:30 Interruption". I would have to drop everything and run to NAPA for different fittings or more lines, or something.

I have read on here of people using an '86 F-350 master by opening up the holes a tad to fit the slightly more narrow stud spacing.

Then you don't have to worry about adapters or the end up with the kind of goofy looking Explorer reservoir

The '87 '350 has a plastic reservoir like a '86+ Ranger, same bore but to my knowledge nobody has used it yet.

Took a couple of hours, but finally got my lines cut and flared with new size nuts for my line adapters on my explorer m/c. New booster, in, which was the problem. Now bleed lines next.....
