tryin to find a posi for a edge 2wd

i have a 02 ford ranger edge 2wd and i know that it has the open diff. i am trying to find a posi for it so i can get some better traction in the dirt. i really want to keep the gears i already have and just swap the open one for a posi. any help would be nice thanks

what size is your axle, 7.5" or 8.8"? lock rite would be an option for the 7.5, and im sure there are more options for the 8.8 if that is what you have.

i kno that it is the 7.5 but i was thinking that i could get a 8.8 but that might be alot of work so i was tryin to find it for the 7.5

I have a good used posi from a 7.5 that had 3.73 gears if that would work for you I'd take $50 plus shipping.

i am looking for whatever is easier and will work the best. for sand or light mud since right now i am in AZ and will be moving back to WA in DEC. the truck is also getting the prerunner treatment so i want something that will work good on the street as well.

The easiest solution is a Lock-right lunchbox locker, it pops right in where the spiders gears used to be and requires no gear setup. And a locker works much better than a limited slip.

With a limited slip or any other full carrier replacement locker, you need to check the backlash at the least and actually shim it correctly if the backlash does not check out.

An auto locker will never be as smooth as a limited slip or selectable locker but they aren't that bad, I used to drive 1000 miles a month in my B2 with a locker.

I was installing new front diff [4-10's] in my '85 b-2 and decided to make it a l/s instead of welding the spiders [ the guy at The Gear Center suggested welding as I could unlock the hubs]. It's driven on and offroad. So what I did was add an extra thrust? washer from the old diff to the new one [ large thin washer / not curved]. I did this to a 9" years ago and it worked fine for many miles, never did break any thing [ tho it did have 4 spiders , not 2].
