Own a 1992-2.3L-4 cyl ford ranger. had a new engine replaced 68k miles ago by authorized ford dealership. yesterday the timing belt broke while driving, had it towed, and repair shop insists of engine damage with an approx. $800 repair. Found in this forum that this engine is non-interference and no engine damage will happen. ( truck just went dead, tried starting with small intervals but stopped and had it towed). any suggestions, I am on disability and cannot pay this $$ repair. am I being told wrong for repair. this approx. estimate was made with only realizing belt ws broke. please help
