may I suggest you look at a cut-away diagram of a typical sealed front wheel bearing. they definitely are designed for side & axial loads.

Ford Taurus' used a dual roller cartridge front bearing thru 1996, not sure what newer ones are.
I can't remember what vehicle it was because it was too long ago, but at one time I had a front unit bearing assembly with the bearing apart, and it was a large, single row ball style radial bearing. I was amazed that it was ever engineered and approved for production that way, because even the worst engineer on the planet knows that a normal radial style bearing should never be used in an application where there is significant side-loading.

Exactly... They make more money

Probably has something to do with manufacturing too... way easier to zip a couple bolts down then fooling with all the parts and grease running down an assembly line
Harder for non skilled labor to screw up at the factory, faster assembly at the plant and faster turnaround in a shop (for bolt on ones)
