my completely stock 88 long bed ranger has arod sticking forward from the TIB just inboard of the knuckles. about 1/2 dia and 3 inches long. what's it do?
if you go to; how to tech,
scroll down to; the ranger front suspension,
and look at the first diagram,
it shows right behind the alignment adjusting sleeve.
my soon to be junked 86 4x4 does not have this rod.
my going on cl tomorrow 90 2wd project has the hole for the rod but no rod
neither of my series 3 rangers have the hole for the rod
again, what does it do?

I have an 86 2wd Ranger and the sway bar is behind the i-beams. On other 4x4 rangers I own they are ahead of the beams and the sway bar links end up very close to where those protrusions are, but are a removable piece that use the rad arm bolts to attach to the beam.

had to go to fomoco today so i asked about these 'bolts'. parts diagram doesn't show them. body shop said they are stops for the steering to limit the amount of turning radius
