I have a standard cab 2001 Ranger. What years can I grab a set of seat belts from?

I got stopped for a cracked windshield and the officer noticed that my seat belts were frayed.I have rarely argued with an officer, but I did today.I wasn't having my truck towed. It never sees highway duty and rarely leaves town.

I checked a couple JYs.They cut all the seat belts when they take in a vehicle. They told me it's a safety liability issue,so they cut them. Now I am searching for seat belts, but I don't know what years will fit. There's a couple trashed Rangers sitting around me.I was hoping I could make some offers and come away with mirrors, seat belts, and possibly a windshield.

97 has the old style with the release button on the side of the buckle. I think they went to the new stile with the red orange plastic release at the top of the buckle in 98 or 99. I don't think they changed since then.

I knew about that change.I just didn't know when it took place.I remember my '85 having the center button on the side.I know my '01 has the push button on the latch end.I'll keep my eye out for the right ones.

I'm looking at an '85 now.I just don't know if the shop can find the owner to get the title. If not,I may take it as is,and put my '01 cab and bed on the '85 chassis.I'll get that sweet sweet 2.8 V6,manual trans, and 4x4.My current truck is a bombed out 2.5 with an auto that hangs in 1st and 2nd.It's only 2wd.I loved my '85.It's the same as the one I'm looking at, but my old one was an auto.I hated that auto.Same problems I am having with my current truck.

sweet sweet 2.8 V6.
I have heard a 2.8 called a lot of things... never that. :shok:

Probably easier to find another 2.3 and do a 5 speed swap.

'01 is new enough you could probably still get belts from a bodyshop or Ford. Most of the ones from LMC are just lap belts anyway.

That was a sarcastic remark about the 2.8. :icon_thumby:

I have a 2.5 Lima,not a 2.3 Duratec.My truck is an early '01, before the Duratec change over.

I have a friend that owns a body shop. They just order seat belts from Furd. They're $190 a side at his price. :shok:
