My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I would go with purple. Lighting changes everything. But I would say that the color you see in bright sunlight is most likely the color it is.

There are some strange paints out there. We painted a trial color a few days ago at work, that looked metallic green at one angle and copper at another angle in the same lighting. Sort of a Doppler effect of Paint color. Don't remember what it was called. In another year or two, we will be able to offer well over 200 colors of factory paint on cars painted at our plant.

There is a sticker on the door jamb, you can look up the paint code and find out what the name of the color actually is.

What size engine

Mine is a 4.0l with manual 4x4 transmission motor had to be lifted and the transmission had to be pulled.. Still only took about 2.5 hours to complete.

Without seeing a picture, or knowing the vehicle history, I'd guess that it is a purple that is fading from UV damage, or that someone at some point had it re-done in Mystichrome, which can be purple, blue, or green, depending on the angle and lighting it is viewed in.
