So, the 2.8 Aerostar serpentine belt crank pulley and damper setup is here, and I still have the serpentine belt pulley from my 3g alternator. Almost everything is gathered for the serpentine belt conversion.

Then I had a brain fart. I totally forgot about the damn water pump.

Does the 2.8, 2.9, and 4.0 all share a water pump pulley bolt pattern? Guessing they probably do, and that would give me the last pulley I need to finish the serpentine belt conversion.

If not, nbd. I'll just recycle an electric water pump out of a BMW and knock another parasite off the engine.

I would be surprised if they shared water pumps.

Does the serp 2.8 have a ribbed or smooth water pump pulley?

No idea what it has. Can't even find a photo.

One would imagine that ford used the same bolt pattern on many of their water pump pulleys. Everything from small blocks to V6's. Offset is what will be different which is easy to cure with a spacer if the offset is the right direction away from the front of the block.

I didn't even think serpentine belts existed when the 2.8 was around...

Adsm08 put me on to it. The 1986 Aerostar 2.8 had a serpentine setup. Found one new in box crank damper and a used pulley stack. Apparently only year for it.

Just the right size to touch the ground.
I'm not sure of your setup, but often, when a serpentine belt was implemented over a previous v-belt design, the pump was spun in the opposite direction since it came off the back of the belt. Just make sure your pump is turning the right way.
