@fastpakr, you're right, I was referring to the first link. I'm trying to add to that thread, I guess. Thanks for the linking those threads. "Project: Outrangerous" build threads are a mess and it is hard to follow his build because he started a new thread every time he posted and it is NOT organized.

3.0 Duratec block

3.0 Vulcan

I don't need a tape measure to see they are different.
Where did you get these pics. I would like to compare and contrast that Vulcan with the Conti 4.6, but cant find any good pics

This has given me a headache. I'm going back up to Pike's Peak where there is no internet and the only thing I have to worry about is the hypoxia.

THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED

Thanks @fastpakr, for the link. After a re-read, the mustang forums say that the conti 32v 4.6 will not bolt to ANY rwd trans in the ford lineup.

A 2.9 is not "just" a machine. It's a living, breathing machine. It eats air and fuel and exhausts glory and a song of angles.

I'm putting my spare one in my living room. This settles it.

Kind of like a goldfish.

You can do everything right and it dies anyway.

i ask, because i have, in my possesion, a running Continental with the 4.6, and a non-running Ranger with the Vulcan 3.0. i know a lot of intake stuff and computer stuff will have to be done, i just want to know IF it can be done.

try this link, scroll down to the 4.6 4 valve vehicle chart.
next to Contential it says FWD bell housing

Maybe I'm not following something here...
We've established that the Continental 4.6 was produced with the FWD Duratec V6 / Yamaha V8 pattern. Where is the idea coming from that it also existed in the Vulcan pattern?

it's an old question that popped up again.

there are a couple near me, I may stop by with a Vulcan bell housing for a test fit.
