https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2717548711618016/ (ok, this is not a valid selection, but I want it, and I thought I would put it out there...
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/406288370053751/ No motor, but comes with a 302 block that can be sold/ swapped out for another working motor..
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/837332826661948/ Motor issues...
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2534555340098221/ No motor

that is what I found on Facebook market place anyways...the one with the 302 seems like a good bet. can trade that 302 for a motor/ whatever needed to get it up and running

Not a Ranger, but a good candidate... the only true upgrades to this would be safety considerations... even the missing windows... looks like it would be an easy fix up

Hmmmm......

Bobby and I had a conversation back in August about building an offroad car out of a 85-86 Ford LTD LX midsize.

As far as gambler vs lemons, would depend on start date, and maybe tackle both over two years? Gather a pile o Ranger stuff, build one for gambler first, then one for lemons? Covers both of our groups, street trucks and off road.

Can't remember if I said it before, but when done, ask ford if they want to put them in their museum. When they say **** no, tell them that this is what their proud dysfunctional owners do with their trucks.

And also tell Ford that they need to build a new Ranger with a ****ing manual transmission. Then call them a**hats.

LOL.

A Lemons truck could allow more people to get involved.

Maybe if we just start playing around with cheap race trucks, we could end up building a real race truck someday.

I've always wanted to do a cheap truck build to show people they could have fun on a low budget.

The only issue I see is that we’re all spread out around the country. If we were all local, we’d already be building something as a group.

How long could it take to put together a $500 race truck? We just have to figure out who would be seriously willing to travel to work in someones garage for a weekend to know who the players are, where the races are, who has a garage we can use, and where we can sleep. I'll sleep in the back of my expedition, or in a tent in someones yard. Getting people together and working on a truck together is just as much of the adventure as the race itself.

Come up with a plan... I’ll be there. (Well, maybe not in Texas. Thats 1500+ miles away... 3K miles and 48 hrs of driving is a bit much to go work on a Ranger for a weekend.)

I think between you and I we could cover at least Jersey and PA for lemons. Sounded like Eric may be in for part of the South as well.

I think we may be able to pull this off...

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

To me it seems the Gambler 500 is certainly doable in pretty short order. Haven't looked at the rules but after watching the video... it appears to have NO rules.
