I am thinking about getting my Mazda manual transmission rebuilt while I have it out to install a new clutch slave cylinder. I am not having any problems with it but do get a slight rhythmic bearing type sound from the transmission when in first and cruising. It has been doing this for a couple years and not getting any worse but it probably has a worn bearing somewhere. I would like to rebuild it myself but I am not familiar with these transmissions and I will be spending time on taking the transfer case apart for inspection and freshening. I am also doing the clutch and rear crank seal also while the transmission is out.
My question is; does anyone know of a reliable shop that rebuilds these transmissions in Orange Co., California? I want someone that does excellent work and I don't mind paying for good quality work. I know this is a shot in the dark but I need to start somewhere.
