Have what sounds like tire noise....but doesn't change on different pavements. Engine speed has no effect....only truck speed. My first thought was a wheel bearing, but it isn't the type of sound I've always associated with wheel bearings....isn't constant....is slightly oscillating, and not very loud. Doesn't change with swerving right or left. Tires have almost 10,000 miles on them. Has anyone had a change in tire noise as the tires wear...? Tire pressure at 28 lbs.
Thanx for any info....
Charlie.

oh yeah, tires make lots of different noises as they wear.
check for wear patterns on the tires. it's an easy test, just run your hand over the tread section feeling for anything that isn't smooth. go all directions, sometimes the tread blocks wear in a saw-tooth pattern. they will be relatively smooth one direction, quite notchy the other way.

causes are alignment/worn suspension parts, and driving style. larger tires or wheels can be a factor.

oscillating? check for a bent wheel or crooked tire. jack it up and spin it.

Thanx guys for the replies. Haven't worked on many post-95 vehicles, other than routine maintenance, so I thought that maybe today's wheel bearings sound different from those in the past......(?). Thanx again.
