In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Hmm, guess ill play...

Heres the old yazoo i bought. This thing is friggin nuts. 60in deck with a old 23hp cast iron opposed kohler. Nothing slows it down. In this video i literally had to stop and back up because there was so much infront of it i lost traction....

Looks like the last time you mowed was back when that machine was brand new.

When my father and I start mowing the farm, we scalp the hell out of it. Stunting it's growth = less mowing. WIN. The idea of a lawn is ridiculous anyway. Getting rid of clover and dandelions like it's some kind of battle to be won is even more ridiculous. Especially when making dandelion wine is so easy, and it's delicious.

The idea of a lawn was started by the super wealthy in Europe. Having land that didn't have to produce crops/profit was a status symbol. Showing off your wealth.. I find lawn maintenance to be super annoying anyway, and a huge waste of my time, so to hell with trying to achieve golf course-like grass...

I like the idea of taller native grasses and the wildlife that thrive in it so much more. The only downside to that is you'll have a lot more snakes, mice, and possibly ticks. The clover also puts more wild game in my freezer, because the rabbits love it. We only mow the farm because we have to. The city can see it as an eyesore and if they come mow it you get charged big money. We live right on the edge of town. The city limits are literally 6ft behind my back door. I have deer in my yard nearly every night munching away at the clover.

My dream lawn would be 100% gravel though. Low maintenance!

Probably just old O2 sensors - bet the cleaner does nothing.

But... I dont even like grass... my goats give me a nice bare yard and my guinea hens eat all the ants. It's all about zero maintenance. I barely need to feed the dumb things. Between 3 goats and 12 hens it cost me about 100 a month for 26 acres.

I dont have kids but I have 12 neices and nephews. Guess where their favorite place is... my lawnless property full of animals. And I dont just mean my goats and hens. Every inch of my property is covered in old sheetmetal, dead trees etc. They go out and bring back snakes, toads, frogs, salamanders etc...

Does your dumb well trimmed lawn have all these fun critters? I actually have black windows under my house. I tought my kids how to spot the difference in webs. And they know spiders are friends, just like snakes.

Last year we found a coral snake. Deadliest snake in america. I picked it up and showed them it means no harm. Taught them how their teeth work. Put it back in my yard.

Deer, raccoon, possum, coyote, mink, rabbit, quail, garter/ringneck/bull snakes. Had ground hogs but we went to war. I hear pheasants but have yet to see one in my yard. Lots of bugs, some more pleasant than others.

I saw a huge spider the last time I mowed. Had babies on its back.
