After getting a price of 800.00 for oem running boards , I decided on the Westin Protrax 5 . My wife is short and this is her truck so I got these for her for Christmas . Pretty easy install except for the fact that Westin marked the boards backwards , (driver side vs. passenger side ) and they do not interchange . Anywhooooo , I got them on and the wife is ecstatic to the point she says " Now I have a Bada$$ truck " which is so not my wifes character .

Westin are First class for sure. I bought a set for my 2017 F150. Easy to install and very sturdy.
My Ranger came with Ford OEM running boards, but honestly I dont need them. But they look nice

Show us a picture, Dave! I passed on the OEM units for the same reason ROMCJR did--Too expensive!!! After looking around, (I found very few photo's, of the advertised running boards, actually displayed on the 2019 Ranger), I decided on the STEELCRAFT 6" STX500 Series cab length rectangular Boards.
I have not seen a Ranger here, with the OEM Boards installed.

I truly hate running boards.... That big space between the board and the truck makes them look like something that belongs on a deck for a swimming pool. And From the front or rear of the truck... if you can see them sticking out past the tires.. :stop:

However.. that being said.. some don't have that big space. These from N-Fab are pretty slick.

Do people actually use running boards?
Or are they for looks?
I can't remember ever using a running board in 40 years of driving a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck.

I only added the powder coated black boards, to break up the "red" and they offer good protection from stones/rocks coming out of the tires.
Yes, I agree the "space" is amost always present--Haven't seen a really nice set of "Diamond Plate" boards, in years--Most of those units, fitted/bolted up to the lower rocker panel seam.

Oh absolutely, keeping the wife happy is a good thing.
