How are you guys finding Husky and Weathertech mats for the RBVs? I really want a set for my '86 but all that comes up when I enter 1986 Ford ranger or Bronco II is universal stuff. I really want the floor liners but I'll take plain rubber mats that are actually cut to fit the floor pattern of the BII. Are any of the mats mentioned above designed specifically for our trucks or are you guys just buying the universal ones?

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
My RBV mats are something I found at Advance or OReilly’s. I’ve had them for about 5 years and they’re holding up well. Generic cut-to- fit camo patterned with heavy lip around the edges to retain the mess. Nothing special and they stay in place due to some kind of cheap voodoo magic built in.

Ya know Darel... I poked around amazon with 86 Ranger as the chosen vehicle. I got nothing either. If you have your heart set on a husky liner type mat... you might just try a set for a newer body style Ranger. While the floor has changed over the years... it's probably going to be the closest to what you have. If you aren't happy with the fit... you have 30 day to send them back. Probably cost you a few dollars in shipping to try. Even the Highland mats I put in my cart appear to be a custom fit as they say they won't fit your BII.

Yeah at this point I'd happily take a custom-sized floor mat (not the high-sided floor liner) but I can't find anyplace that says it's actually correct for the year/vehicle.

Here's 2 shots of the Highland mats in my 2009 standard cab Ranger. You can see how they follow the contour of the side kick panels and the floor.
I do not know how they will fit the earlier Rangers, but maybe these pic's will help.

Those mats fit pretty darn good... if I can keep them in place... I could be happy camper.

Uncle Gump, just clean your oe mat with your Simple Green, wip it down with some alcohol to get rid of any residue, and they won't slide around. Maybe move an inch or so, but they won't "slide all over".
If they had I would have got rid of em and never recommended them.
Let me know when you get em and if you like em.

'09 would be easy to find good stuff for, not our older trucks.

Liners like Husky and Weather Tech are listed for the newer style Rangers. Not made for the older generations, so your pretty much limited to generic floor mats.

My 2009 also has rubber floor covering.
I bought a set of Highland 4602800 rubber floor mats on Amazon. Heavy duty rubber, lots of channels to catch crud and water.
$38.26 with free shipping. They fit the contour of the Ranger floor like they were made speciffically for the Ranger. They also do not slide around...they fit the floor well so good there's no room for them to slide around.
No hesitation on my part recommending them.

After posting in the coverking set cover thread... I thought I would jump back to this post and add my comments about my rubber floor mats.

I took Grumpaws advice and bought a set of the Highland floor mats. I cleaned the floor to remove the protectant and laid these mats down. They fit really well and honestly... they stay put better then any mats I've owned in the past. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set if I ever wear these out.

I have the Highland floor mats in my rav4. The quality is good though it doesn't have the best fit.
